Just a reminder that Masters Provincial Championships is April 22-24, 2022 at City Centre Aquatic Complex in Coquitlam. The registration deadline is this Friday so be sure to let your coach know which routines you plan to compete in. Coaches please email me your team lists and extra routines by Friday morning.
Now that BC has lifted some of the COVID restrictions I wanted to let everyone know how this affects Vancouver Masters Synchro.
There are no longer any capacity limits or gathering restrictions. Masks are now optional in indoor settings but VMS encourages all athletes to wear masks while on deck especially while grouped together to protect your coaches and fellow athletes. Vaccines are still required for all adult sport. As always, stay home if you are sick. Check with me if you have any questions about the current isolation guidelines.
Here is an excerpt from the BCAS announcement:
"viaSport has now provided an update to BC’s sport sector about the latest announcements and BCAS has updated our COVID-19 Resource page and Artistic Swimming Restart Plan accordingly. Please take the time to review all the information provided. Changes to the Artistic Swimming Restart Plan v7 are highlighted in red font. Just a reminder to click refresh upon opening the document to ensure you have the most recent version – it will say v7 at the top with today’s date.
Please know that businesses and organizations will take some time to pivot and adapt to the lifting of restrictions and some may choose to continue to require face coverings/masks or proof of vaccination on their premises. It is at their discretion to lift or continue these requirements and it is our responsibility to follow all facility or organization protocols.
BC Artistic Swimming recognizes that our two largest events – the Mable Moran Provincial Qualifier and Jean Peters Provincial Championships – are on the horizon. We will be working with the respective facilities to understand how they will manage the latest changes and we will provide updates about any and all restrictions once this consultation is complete."
Please email me at vms.covid19@gmail.com if you have any questions about the updated COVID guidelines. Registration information can be sent to vmsregistrar@gmail.com.
