Hi Everyone,
ViaSport has recently clarified its position on athletes attending practice outside their regional Health Authority with regards to the November 7th regional public health order. This means that, even though we are practicing social distancing at all times during practice, only athletes who live within the boundaries of Vancouver Coastal Health are allowed to attend practices until November 23. If you have any further questions about this, please email or text Rhonda (vms.covid19@gmail.com).
Erin will reach out to you directly to discuss a credit to your swimmer account.
The Order States: “No person may travel to or from the affected area or between the regions of the Fraser Health Authority and the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority for any sport related activity, including practice, training, games or tournaments, unless they are an identified by Canadian Sports Institute Pacific as a high performance athlete affiliated with an accredited provincial or national sports organization and are already training in the affected area and subject to the safety guidelines of their provincial sports organization.”
This order is in place until November 23 at 12pm, so this affects two Sunday practices (November 15 and 22). The Vancouver Coastal Health region includes the following cities: North Vancouver
Vancouver Richmond The Fraser Heath region includes the following cities: Burnaby
Delta New Westminster Surrey
We'll continue to update you as the situation evolves. Have a great weekend!
